At The Protege Project, we believe every young person holds a spark of possibility. But for too many youth, especially those in underserved communities, that spark remains hidden, waiting for the right fuel. We exist to stoke that fire.
Founded in 2021, The Protege Project emerged from one clear idea: entrepreneurship is more than building businesses, it’s a pathway to equity, agency, and legacy. Our founder, Kewana Reese, witnessed firsthand the wealth gap in communities she loved, and aimed to provide youth with not only business tools, but a community of support, mentorship, and real-world opportunities.
From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a movement. We now mentor dozens of young people annually, helping them convert ideas into ventures, ambitions into impact, and dreams into sustainable futures.
We envision a future where every young person sees themselves as a creator, not just a consumer. A future where communities thrive because their leaders, innovators, and change-makers come from within. Through entrepreneurship, we aim to close wealth divides, uplift underserved neighborhoods, and shift the narrative: youth can lead, build, and transform their worlds.
The Protege Project is a youth-focused organization committed to empowering the next generation by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, resources, and confidence to succeed. Our mission is to prepare youth, 13-24, for the future through workforce development and career readiness, while also fostering entrepreneurial thinking, leadership growth, and financial literacy. We believe in providing the tools and resources young people need to thrive in school, in work, and in life.
